Why Village Roots Was Created
The heart of Village Roots is our people. Our educators and leadership team are passionate about creating safe, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate experiences where children feel known, connected, and excited to learn.
Krystall DeBoy "Mrs. K"
Maples Teacher (Ages 3-5)
Hey! Hey! I’m Mrs. K, your friendly neighborhood explorer, and I’m excited to learn, grow, and adventure right alongside your child here at The Village!
I call Mooresville home, where I live with my husband Joe, our two kiddos, two cats, and two very fluffy Great Pyrenees pups—so yes… there’s usually a little joyful chaos, a lot of love, and at least one dog convinced they’re a lap dog.
I’ve been part of the co-op world since 2013 and stepped into teaching in 2018. I believe childhood should be a big, beautiful adventure—full of muddy shoes, sunshine, wildflowers, giggles that echo, and imagination that runs wild and free. Around here, we don’t just learn… we explore, we wonder, we create, and we see a little bit of magic in the everyday.
When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll find me outside soaking up nature, dancing around to good music, or hanging out with my family and our little crew of animals.
I can’t wait for a year full of wonder, discovery, and adventures with your child!
Carole James “Mrs. Carole”
Maples Assistant Teacher (Ages 3–5)
Hi! I’m Carole, the Assistant Teacher in the Maples class. I’m so excited to start exploring alongside your little ones! I love that Village Roots Collective is a place where we can nurture our little ones into growing and learning through play.
I’ve been actively working as an assistant teacher with little ones since 2024, but I’ve really always been involved with some kind of youth and/or children activity, regardless of where I was living or working.
When I’m not in a classroom, you’ll find me spending time with my husband Joel and our two boys, experimenting in the kitchen or socializing in one way or another. I also love traveling, be it discovering the USA, visiting my family in France, my husband’s family in India, or discovering the world.
Alison Hill “Ms. Ali”
Redwoods Teacher (Ages 5–8 | K-2nd)
I’m Ali, the Redwoods teacher at Village Roots Collective. I joined Village Roots in 2024 after spending 10 years teaching in elementary public schools. Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences that spark curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.
One of the things I love most about Village Roots is the sense of community. It truly feels like a village, and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of a place where children, families, and educators learn and grow together. Every day, I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside my students as we explore, create, and discover the world around us.
I love traveling, hiking, and discovering new places – but I’m just as happy curled up with a good book, a cup of tea, some M&Ms, and my pug on my lap!
Catawna Silvers “Ms. Cat”
Willows Teacher (Ages 8–11 | 3rd-5th)
Hi, I’m Ms. Cat! I began working in education in 2019 and have loved supporting children’s learning ever since. I earned my degree in Elementary Education from IUPUI in 2023 and am excited to be part of a cooperative learning community that values curiosity, connection, and play-based learning.
My passion for working with children started early—first as a big sister and later through years of babysitting and tutoring middle school students. These experiences shaped my love for teaching and for supporting children as they grow in confidence and independence.
I grew up in Whiteland and currently live in Greenwood with my daughter, Juniper, and our dog, Lucky. Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring local parks and trails, and being with my family. I’m looking forward to a year of learning, exploration, and meaningful connections at Village Roots Collective.
Kendra Frankland “Ms. Kendra”
Educational Director & Sycamores Teacher (Ages 11–14)
Hi! I am Kendra Frankland, I am so excited to join the amazing Village Roots team as the Sycamores teacher, where I get to combine my passion for education with a commitment to hands-on, immersive learning. My two kids and I have been involved with VRC for a little over a year now and we absolutely love it here. My family and I love being outside, playing games, getting messy and pretty much any type of adventure you can think of.
With a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Trine University and years of experience in the classroom, I specialize in creating Project-Based Learning (PBL) environments that empower students to explore, create, and think critically. My teaching philosophy is rooted in play-based, literature-based frameworks that foster both academic growth and a lifelong love of discovery and learning.
My goal is to guide students as they navigate and become accountable for their own learning journey. I believe that consistency, curiosity, and a supportive community are the keys to a transformative middle school experience, and I am honored to partner with your families to make this a great middle grade program.
Whitney Rainbolt
CEO & Co-Founder
Hiya! I’m Whitney – the mom who was desperate for a village, gathered some like-minded people, and decided to help create one! I adore what we’ve been able to build and still can’t believe how lucky we’ve been to find such incredible teachers for the programs I dreamed about for my own kids.
You’ll often find me helping behind the scenes, answering questions, planning programs, supporting our team, or connecting with families.
When I’m not wearing my Village Roots hat, you’ll find me being a silly goose with my kiddos, spending time in the woods, drinking iced espresso, finding an excuse to visit a bakery or ice cream shop, or squawking about new ideas for our village.
I’m so grateful to be part of this growing community and excited to welcome new families along the way!
